Abstract:

Their handwriting; colourful paintings and gold-covered writings, material and aesthetic characteristics, not only colleagues, but also social scientists, because of the texts they contain. The research of handwriting produced during the Byzantine period has been one of the main topics of Byzantine studies since the 19th century. In the first part of the study, the publications from the 19th century to the present day have been focused on the integrity of the subject. Even today, while the efforts to discover new manuscripts are continuing, it is seen that their manuscripts are being worked by researchers, not only for their material values, but also because they bring information about history and social life to the face. As a result of increasing scientific outcomes on the subject of Byzantine handwriting, it is clear that a special source is needed. In the second part of the study, the online database work (http://byzantinemanuscript.bozok.edu.tr/) was introduced with the support of the Yozgat Bozok University's Scientific Research Project to meet this need.
