This study is about the superstitious beliefs of Isaac Barrow, a mathematician and theologian who lived in the 17th century, in his works written in Istanbul, which is at the center of his journey between 1656-1658. Isaac Barrow stayed in Istanbul for a year and a half and made various observations and wrote various works describing the life, culture, religious structure and political situation of the Ottoman Empire. It would not be wrong to say that superstitions are becoming common and an integral part of everyday life. Most of these superstitions are based on Turkish traditions and beliefs. On the other hand, observations of a foreign traveller within the boundaries of classical Ottoman Turkish on such a subject make the subject more interesting and important. As it is known, texts written in Latin letters concerning the Ottoman field written by foreigners are indispensable sources for language research. In this study, which focuses on folk culture and cultural history of the subject, Isaac Barrow's life was revealed after a short introduction about superstitions in Turks, and in the last part of the study, superstitions in Isaac Barrow were discussed.
