Abstract:

Institutions carry out various social projects in order to increase the quality of life of the society, to support the economy and education, and to ensure that the cultural heritage is kept alive and passed on to future generations. Participation banks, which are one of the building blocks of the financial sector in terms of the cash flow they provide and the size of their assets, also carry out corporate social responsibility projects in order to support marketing and corporate reputation in addition to their basic services. In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the performance of the corporate social responsibility projects carried out by participation banks operating in accordance with the principles of interest-free banking. In the study, the data of the period covering the years 2013-2017 of the five participating banks, taken from annual activity reports, were determined by the ENTROPI method and analyzed by the TOPSIS method. According to the analysis, the corporate social responsibility performance was the high bank Albaraka Turkish Participation Bank. Other participating banks according to their performance are ranked as Kuwait Turkish, Turkish Finance, Ziraat Participation and Foundation Participation Bank.

This assessment was carried out according to the social responsibility criteria determined by GRI (Global Reporting Initiative). In this study, data of five participation banks for the period 2013-2017 were taken from annual reports and their weights were determined by ENTROPİ method and analyzed by TOPSIS method. According to the analysis, Albaraka Türk Participation Bank has the highest corporate social responsibility performance. Other Turkish participation banks based on their performance has been ranked as Kuwait Turk, Turkey Finans Participation Bank, Ziraat Participation Bank and Vakıf Participation Bank.
