Abstract:

The social structure is essentially a place where people live together. It is also a fact that the representations of female and male in society exist constantly. These relationships are behaviors learned from certain cultural characteristics and socialization processes. In different parts of the world there are completely different female and male representations. On the other hand, these representations have a structure that can change by time, not stable and stable. In Turkey, with the social change over time, some characteristics of women and men culturally defined begin to differentiate. In general, in the media, the film is a field where female and male representations are produced as a role model and put into circulation. Feminist research is often seen as studies on women, but in recent years there has been an increase in studies on masculinity. Men’s research is based on the fact that the traditional patriarchal social structure has been overwhelmed in recent years, and that women are more effective in the workplace, in the public area. In this regard, the argument is that the traditional male power has been lost in a social field. In general, the decrease in the oppression of the eril authority is called the "manhood crisis". In the framework of the study, the script was selected as an example of the film The Painful Love (2009) by Honur Famous, directed by Taner Elhan. In the study, the characteristics of Greşilçam melodram films and male representations in the Turkish cinema after 2000 were generally determined. The painful love film has been mutually analyzed with the male representations of these two periods that have emerged in the Turkish cinema history. Furthermore, the facts of male and male crisis in the film have been studied in the context of power, sexuality, women-man relations, and economics.
