The East and the West are the names founded by the center of Europe, not really existing, born entirely in the thought of the European, and accepted to the world through the dominant culture. This two-pole concept represents two cultures and civilizations without a third. Orientalism symbolizes one of these civilizations (West/North) of progress, continuous development, and the other (East/South) of stagnation, tension in science, art, culture, economics, etc. It is constantly re-producing. This structure reflects the modern world view that the West established in the light of the Philosophy of Enlightenment. In Western societies with different social traditions, modernization appears to come from different sources to the same modernity basis. As a result of this reality, Western-external modernity thinkers, moving from the idea that the principle of universality of modernity can be questioned, claim that the way that the societies that are still on the path of modernization today suggest to imitate themselves imposed by the West may not be the only right way, and that modernity can be increasingly reached through different traces.
