In this study, the model of governance which has been assigned to the state as a new method of administration by the neo-liberal politics is analyzed. In the evaluation of the model, primarily the root of the concept is defined. On the development, legitimization and implementation of the model, the effects of international organizations such as; World Bank (WB), Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), United Nations (UN) and the European Union (EU) are observed. The principles of the model which are started to be named as “good governance” within the process are outlined. By referring to the legal documents of the Turkish institutions, the reflection of these principles to the Turkish governance system is examined. The implication of the model in Turkey is explained through the practices under the frameworks of local, regional and national restructurings. Finally, the paper ends by exploring the critics against the fundamental arguments of the model.
