This study aims to reveal the role of the Ancient Era developments in shaping the Eastern Mediterranean geopolitics. In this context, the main issues of the region’s history are examined. The Eastern Mediterranean has always been a crucial competition stage of the world politics. Investigating the historical developments, thus, can help to expose the geopolitical and security structure of the region. Specifically, the political and economic domains deserve special attention. Firstly, the economic, political, and strategic importance of the region is emphasized. Secondly, the interaction of Egyptians, Hittites and Assyrians in this region is analysed with reference to modern concepts such as hegemony and balance of power. Thirdly, the main developments of the Roman Era are discussed. Finally, it is concluded that although actors of the region have changed over time, there are some perpetual characteristics that still continue to shape the geopolitics of the Eastern Mediterranean
