This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of logistics information technologies and logistics information systems of the retail chain stores operating in the Province of Ankara, Turkey. In the study, 300 retail chain stores operating in Ankara were surveyed. The information technologies used in logistic information systems of the retail chain stores, their duration of use, and the resulting benefits were identified. Considering the retail chain stores in terms of their technologies, it was observed that 71% of the respondents was using Internet, 51% was using a commercial (inventory, accounting and warehouse management, etc.) software. Looking at the duration of use of the technologies, the barcode and RFID technologies rank first in terms of the shortest time spent, which is followed by the use of Internet. And, in terms of the software and hardware, the traveling salesman system was found to be the most inadequate, whereas the Internet technology was deemed the most adequate. In terms of the desired benefits, all the information system applications are above the average; however, most of the benefits are obtained from the customer relationship module, followed by the Internet applications. It was determined that the barcode and RFID applications have the least benefits
