Abstract:

In the twentieth century, the body, separated from the visual object of traditional art and changed its meaning with contemporary art, has become an art object as a form of expression. Political, economic or social events have been questioned along with contemporary art, and artists have wanted to use the reality of their own body as an opposition. They made it an object of art by adding their bodies or by interfering with their bodies. Thus, through the body, they opened new concepts and fields to the contents of art. In this study, entitled "the body as an object of art in contemporary art", we first pointed out how contemporary art emerged. By referring to the concepts and methods used by the artists, the boundaries of the contemporary art field have been studied. In this scope, the study is aimed at studying the transformation of the "body" as an art object in contemporary art with examples of artists and artworks in the historic process. The research was carried out with the general scan model. Therefore, in the research, the literary scan for the study of the "body" as an art object in the context of the art-artist-artist work was made, the results arising were interpreted, discussed.
