Abstract:

In this study, the study in the Professional High School assessed the opinions of students towards the professional high schools. The work group of the research conducted according to the facts science is composed of 135 students studying at the Afyon Kocatepe University of Afyon Professional High School. The opinions obtained by six open end questions were evaluated by content analysis.  The research finds that vocational high schools are defined by many metaphors such as "unsuitable", "high school", "unregulated", "diploma". The participants see the primary mission of the professional high schools as the training of interpersonal elements, while the negative findings in this direction have pointed out the views that the professional high schools are actually a high school. Professional high school students are preferred to study the program according to the priority order of the environment (Family, Friends, etc.It is determined that the conditions of believing in the excess of business opportunities and loving the relevant area are effective.  Students who participated in the study pointed out that they had lack of application, vehicle and laboratory, and that safety, irregularity in the classroom and lack of social activity were among the main problems experienced. Students have expressed their views on the fact that courses such as elective courses, business management, vocational education and quality assurance standards should be removed from the programs without program distinction. According to the majority of students, the duration of the study of professional colleges should be two years in theoretical and three years in a year of internship. According to the research, it is recommended that some updates in the program content be made, and the applications are emphasized. In addition, it is recommended that the courses in the vocational universities be conducted together with faculties with close programs, and that the vocational university programs are represented in the institutions.
