Abstract:

Having played a great role in the worldwide development of trade, the sea and seamanship have long been a popular hobby in America and Europe as well. The popularity of the sea and seamanship as a hobby has also been growing rapidly in Turkey in recent years. In line with this, yachting, an element of individual tourism, and marina operation, a natural extension of that, have also been emerging increasingly to the fore. With its suitable geography and climate, Turkey enjoys a highly competitive position in the Mediterranean basin within this line of development. High service quality is another important factor that makes Turkish marinas attractive The objectives of this study are to review the development of marina operations in Turkey, a country that is strategically positioned in the geography of the Mediterranean basin and is blessed with a unique natural beauty, to identify the advantages, disadvantages, and appeal of Turkish marinas in international markets, and to propose strategies for the marketing of these assets
