Irak ve Şam İslam Devleti (IŞİD), Irak ve Suriye’nin geniş alanlarını kontrol eden, sahip olduğu etkili iletişim ve propaganda gücü sayesinde küresel anlamda destekçileri olan, gerçekleştirdiği terör faaliyetleriyle uluslararası güvenliği bozan bir terör örgütüdür. Bu meziyetlere sahip örgüt Irak ve Suriye’de güçlenirken ABD genel Ortadoğu politikasına bağlı olarak bölgeye pek müdahil olmamış, adeta örgütün büyümesine ve olaylara seyirci kalmıştır. Bu bağlamda bu çalışmada Obama döneminde IŞİD tehlikesinin ABD açısından belirginleşme süreci, ABD’nin bu tehlike karşısındaki reaksiyonları, örgütle mücadelede hangi yolları izlediği ve izlediği stratejinin sonuçları incelenmiştir.
The Islamic State of Iraq and Damascus (ISIS) is a terrorist organization that controls the broad areas of Iraq and Syria, which, thanks to its effective communication and propaganda power, is global supporters, and is a terrorist organization that disrupts international security with its terrorist activities. The organization with these grounds is strengthening in Iraq and Syria while the U.S. has not intervened much in the region due to the general Middle East policy, and has remained a view to the organization’s growth and events. In this context, this study examined the process of clarification of the threat of ISIS in the Obama period from the U.S., the reactions of the U.S. against this threat, the outcomes of the strategy which it followed and followed in the fight against the organization.
