Abstract:

The greenhouse gas emissions, which have become one of today’s leading environmental issues, have increased worldwide, especially in the rapidly industrialized countries with the industrial revolution. Another reflection of the process of industrialization is the excessive use of resources that are limited in nature. These two major conditions, such as environmental pollution, global warming, climate change, and lack of natural resources, bring many dangers to both present and future generations. As it is highly likely that there will be permanent changes that threaten the world if the necessary measures are not taken to prevent these and similar dangers, the countries have focused on environmental policies for the conservation of natural resources and the implementation of sustainable development. In this context, especially in recent years, countries have also tended to adopt policy instruments that will be consistent with their environmental policies. Carbon tax, which is one of the instruments of this policy, is among the topics of interest in both national and international studies.  However, the carbon tax in some countries in the world is not yet applied in Turkey.
