Today's world is in a period of very rapid change and transformation, and change in knowledge generation, use, and transfer to all areas (social, political, economic, etc.) is in flux. The results of these transformations are changes in the field of education, education which is in turn the stimulus for changes in our social life. As such education is surely the area most affected by these changes and transformations (Genç & Eryaman, 2007). Turkey, in order to adapt to the development of a universal education system, has made a number of innovations in policy. With the 4+4+4 education system launched during the 2012-2013 academic year, primary education, which previously lasted for eight years, was molded into a 12 year compulsory period divided into three stages. The first stage is designed to be a 4 year primary school (1-4 classes) period, the second stage a 4 year secondary school (5-8 classes) period, and the third stage being high school (9-12 classes) (Turkish Ministry of Education, 2012a). Although academicians have different ideas about the 4 +4 +4 education system, there is still a consensus nevertheless. A healthy debate will emerge from these healthy and non-confrontational thoughts. The debate on the education system must be made on scientific grounds. That 4+4+4 education system was put into practice while it was still being discussed, thus causing concern among teachers, students, and parents. This study presents the problems of the new education system (4+4+4) during the implementation phase and offers solutions for these problems moving forward.
