Abstract:

One of the important features of the Turkish literature during the Republic period is that the artists were sometimes dedicated to ideological campings. The mutual struggle between imperialism and communism in the world since the beginning of the 20th century began in Turkey with the period of the Republic. The imperialist states and Turkey, which entered the First World War with Russia, were allied with it, even if partly, as it was with the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia. This has an influence on Turkish literature, the appearance of Nazim Hikmet after 1929. Nazım Hikmet, who strongly brought the understanding of Soviet art and ideology into Turkish literature, influenced the next generations if necessary in the period and emerged the Socialist Turkish poetry. In this study, the second-generation socialist poets Hasan Hussein Korkmazgil will be briefly introduced and, despite the political opposition between him and his high school teacher Arif Nihat Asia, the teacher-student relationship will be dealt with. Although their understanding was different, Hasan Hussein Korkmazgil, despite the discrepancy with his teacher in a literary environment, did not go into discussion and preferred silence. This is important in terms of an indicator that ideological differences may not always lead to debate.
