Abstract:

In the Ottoman State, an important collection of documents contained in the Sher'iyye Registries also creates the recording records. These records are the documents created by women in order to protect the rights of persons who are unable to agree on the share of goods, as well as the registration of the goods of the members of the military class. The remnants showing all the registered property that the deceased possess are an important source for the enlightenment of the social and cultural life of the time. These records, which can be assessed in many aspects with the information they contain, also contain rich information about women’s clothes and bird culture. This is 18th. The clothes that women living in Bursa in the beginning of the century were discussed in this article. As a source, the B-188 Bursa Sherry registered and copyrighted works related to the subject were used.

Abstract:

The estate records which is in the Şer‘iyye Registers are also an important document collection in the Ottoman Empire. These records are the documents created by the kadı to create the goods records of the members of the military class and to protect the rights of the missing people or orphans among the heirs, as well as the creation of the persons who cannot agree on the distribution of goods. The estate records, which show all recorded documents of deceased people, are the important sources in the sense of reflecting the economic and social life of the period. These records that are evaluated in a lot of ways also contain rich information about women’s clothing culture. In this article focuses on the clothes of women who lived in Bursa in the early 18th century. As sources number of B-188 Bursa court and contemporary researches have been used.
