Abstract:

When Islamophobia is studied since its first use in literature in 1997, it will be seen to be associated with terror events. The need for the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the attempt to restore the dualist structure that the West has positioned on its existence, instead of a hierarchical ranking of postmodernism and identities, the question of the status layering developed by the West, as a result of the perception of the preference of side error, gives sense to the existence of Islamophobia.  In this study, Orientalist postmodernism, Islamophobia, and media relations in France were sought to be revealed through the news published after the "New Anti-Antisemitism Manifesto" published on April 22, 2018 in the newspaper Le Parisien. The study first discussed literary scans with postmodernism, postmodernism and postmodernism, postmodernism and Islamism, Orientalist postmodernism and Islamophobia, Islamophobia in France and the appearances in the media. The news published in the Le Monde, Le Figaro, and Le Parisien newspapers for a week from 22 April to 29 April 2018 was subject to content analysis. In addition to the statistical information made by content analysis, quality assessments were also made to conduct a thorough examination in the study. The research finds that the topics of the news published in Le Monde, Le Figaro, Le Parisien, the title, spot, visual arguments and sources used in the news, and a strong link between anti-Semitism and Islamism has been established.

Abstract:

It is observed that islamophobia, which refers to the unsubstantial fear with respect to Islam, has been associated with terrorist incidents since its first usage in the literature in 1997; in this sense, western world has been manipulated with regard to Islam within the framework of this concept. Western-based status stratification issue, which has taken place by virtue of the Western world’s attempt to restore the dualist structure on which Western world positions its existence following the disintegration of USSR as well as the understanding regarding nonhierarchical existence of identities with postmodernism instead of hierarchical sequence of identities, has enabled us to understand islamophobia in the light of these issues. Within the scope of this study, the multilateral relationship among the orientalist postmodernism, islamophobia and media has been evaluated based on the news following the “Manifesto against New Anti-Semitism” which was published in Le Parisien on the date of April 22, 2018. First of all, within the context of this study, along with the literature review, a number of issues have been discussed such as postmodernism, changing perceptions of identity by virtue of postmodernism, postmodernism and Islam, orientalist postmodernism and islamophobia, islamophobia in France as well its reflections in the media. Subsequently; news, which were published in Le Monde, Le Figaro and Le Parisien spanning the period of one week between the dates of 22 April – 29 April 2018, were evaluated in the light of content analysis. An in-depth research within the body of this study has been carried out with the help of statistical briefing by virtue of the content analysis as well as qualitative evaluations. Research result with respect to this study puts forward that themes, titles, spots, visual arguments and resources, which are used in the news belonging to Le Monde, Le Figaro and Le Parisien, point out a parallel link between anti-Semitism and Islam.
