Abstract:

Imam-Hatip Schools and Theology Faculties are religious education institutions with more than 100 years of historical experience from the Ottoman period to the present. Problems in long history processes and solutions to overcome these problems that reveals the experience of religious education in Turkey. In this context, the success of these institutions is important for the future of religious education in Turkey. The increase in the number of students and schools in both institutions in the last decade has brought the quality of education and religious education given in these schools to the agenda. In this study, academic works written about Imam Hatip Schools and Theology Faculties, newspapers and social media etc. were examined. In this literature search, there are findings that there is not any qualitative increase in parallel with the quantitative increase in Imam-Hatip Schools and Theology Faculties. Especially in the field of research made visible in religious life and religious issues in Turkey are low and it is what will be the role of these institutions in this process were discussed. In this study, the quality problem in these institutions was examined in the context of the related literature and analyzes were made for the future vision of these schools.
