The cult of Kybele, which featured prominently in Central and Western Anatolia as well as in the Mediterranean area, and particularly in Greece and Rome, has a long history. The aim of this essay is to highlight this important cult by looking into archaeological, epigraphic and literary Greek and Roman sources.
