Abstract:

As a script, Philosophers Serkan Paydak is one of the very important tools to introduce famous characters in history to the wide audience.  The tradition of fairy tale and narrative of the ancient ages continued with the theatrical art, and with time it found the possibility of expression as a branch of the seventh art cinema. In the first produced historical films the relationship between cinema and philosophy was revealed with philosophical transmissions (metafores). The "Filosophers as a Scenario" message aims to illustrate how philosophers tell their life stories in the biographical films directed by the directors. In this framework, first and foremost, the film will be studied by the Western philosophers, who are important names in the history of philosophy, Socrates, Descartes, Pascal, Giordano Bruno, Hypatia, Galileo and the Eastern philosophers; Ibn-i Sina, Ibn-i Rusht, Imam-i Gazali and the films of the directors who draw the life stories of the Chinese philosopher Confucius from the Far East.  The film will be reviewed by the critics of these directors. From the Eastern philosophers Ibn-i Sina (Scientific) and Imam-i Gazzali (Dogmatic) represent two separate ecoles.  In this work, on the one hand, the directors will discuss the differences and contradictions between Ibn Sina and Imam Gazzali. On the other hand, we’ll compare the orientalist perspective of the directors who translated the life of Ibn-i Sina, known as Avicenna in the West, with the story of Sokrates by European directors.  The primary sources in this study will be biographical films taken about philosophers and lobby photos. The articles about them will be used as secondary sources.
