This study aims to examine academic success of 8th grade students’ social sciences lesson from the standpoint of problematic internet use and some other variables. In the research population consists of 284 students from secondary schools in Ankara. The sample consisting of 6 secondary schools, is selected from the population by simple random sampling method. A negative relationship between the problematic internet use and average success of Social Studies lesson has been found in the research. Furthermore, a meaningful diversity has been found between gender status and secondary students’ average success of Social Studies lesson. The diversity is in favor of male students. A meaningful diversity has also been found between the secondary school students’ time of internet use and average success of Social Studies lesson. In the survey a meaningful diversity has also been found between the parental educational level and average success of Social Studies lesson; it has been determined that as the level of education increases, academic success of student increases too.
