In this work, it will be try to be illuminated that the name origin of Kuluncak village which is related to the Güce county of Giresun state. The unknown and known wrong points will be evaluated about Kuluncak name until today with its reflections in Asia and Anatolia within the scope of Turkish culture. In this direction, it will be found out the connection between the name of village and the animals and plants which Turks used in their day life based on transhumance and husbandry. It’s basic argument of this work that Kuluncak name formed from kulun word which is meaning colt and used offen between Turkish communities. Turks have named the places by their precious animals’ names which they’ve settled as a classical form of naming traditions. It’s observed this type names are common at the countrysides mostly. Kuluncak village is one of the high altitude village of the county too. This height plays a role at the semantic connection between Kulun and Kuluncak names either. The usages of two words at close and away counties which mentioned, is analyzed within the context of meaning, place and time in this work. Also, it is protested to some written and verbal sources about mentioned words by touching on the similars of “kulun and Kuluncak” words and the differences of local diction.
