Abstract:

With the end of World War II, the liberal developments that occurred throughout the world have also been affected by Turkey. Turkey has re-established the issue of transition to political life that has failed before and has failed. In the transition from the one-party system under the Republican People's Party (CHP) to the multi-party democratic system, the Second World War played an important role in the victory of the democracy front.   Aleksandros Hacopulos, one of TBMM’s non-Muslim parliamentarians, served for two periods as DP Istanbul parliamentarians between 1954 and 1960.  During the two periods of his mission, he has expressed his opinions on various issues in a total of eight times at the General Assembly of the TBMM. Elected to the National Education Commission, Hacopulos was closely concerned with his problems by visiting schools in Western Trakya. Hacopulos, after being elected deputy, has not forgotten the Patriarchate and the Rom community and has continued to support the needs of the church and aid organizations as long as the opportunity was found.   On May 27, 1960, after his military intervention, he was arrested with all the MPs and sentenced to violate the Constitution in Yassıada. In the claim, the reason for the trial of Hacopulos was to support the breach of the Constitution and to go to the dictatorship by the way of the torch, not to respect Atatürk's incrusts, to obtain a currency of £16,000. In his defense, Hacopulos defended all the claims against his speeches in the TBMM and the betting activities by providing evidence. In his defense of Hacopulos, the Istanbul Baros lawyers, Nusret Kalyoncuoğlu, advocated, violated the constitution opened and then encouraged people to be armed and obtained unlawful wealth, all of the cases ended with a trial decision and became free in 1961. In this study, the Prime Minister's Republic Archive, Yassıada Tutanakları and TBMM Zabıt Tutanakları are prepared to discuss the process of trial in Yassıada by the Democratic Party Istanbul deputy Aleksandros Hacopulos.
