Anahtar Kelimeler: İpek böceği, Bursa, I. Dünya Savaşı, Koza, İpek Abstract This adventure of silk which started with Istanbul in Anatolia, spread over Marmara and Mediterranean regions. Especially in the 15th century, Bursa became the center of not only the Ottoman Empire but also the world silk trade. Bursa silk trade, which gained great reputation and commercial gain in the 16th century, achieved to be at the forefront of the world silk trade until the World War I period even though there were some recessions in certain periods due to the developments in the world. In other words, the greatest losses of the Anatolian and Bursa silk art began with the First World War. In this study, Bursa sericulture will be evaluated in terms of its place in the years of World War I and the reasons of losing value, and its situation in the pre-war period and in the following years in the light of the statistical data. In particular, in the 15th century, Bursa became the center of the world’s silk trade, not only of the Ottoman. In the 16th century, the Bursa silver industry, which gained a great reputation and commercial gain, has experienced declines in certain periods depending on the developments in the world, although it has succeeded in ranking in silver trade until the years of World War I. In other words, the great decline and losses of the Anadolu and Bursa silk have begun with the First World War. The study will be assessed in the light of the statistical data in which the Bursa silk was at the stage before World War I, the causes of the decline seen during the war and the development in the subsequent years.
