In this article the situation of Islamic Ethics within Islamic thought will be considered in a critical point of view. It is shown that ethics in Islam arise from these predominant sources: The Qur’an and Hadith; Kelâm (Islamic Theology); Tasawwuf (Islamic Mysticism); Fıqh (Islamic Law) and Islamic Philosophy. All of these branches are examined in relation to ethics.
