Cinsiyet yani, “kadınlık” ve “erkeklik” doğuştan getirilir ve değişmezdir; cinsiyet rolleri ise bir toplumda değiştirilebilir özelliktedir. Cinsiyet biyolojik bir gerçeklik iken; toplumsal cinsiyet rolleri kültürel bir olgudur. Geleneksel kültürlerde toplumsal roller bireylere öğretilmektedir. Bu bağlamda Türk toplumu, geleneksel bir kültüre sahiptir ve bireylere birtakım rol ve sorumluluklar biçmiştir. Çalışmanın konusu geleneksellikten modernliğe geçişte güreş sporunu, toplumsal cinsiyet merkezli bakış açılarına göre yorumlamaktır. Çalışmada toplumsal cinsiyet yaklaşımı ile spor kurumunun etkileşimi genel olarak değerlendirilecektir. Türk kültüründe kadının geleneksel sporlara olan ilgisi, kadın güreşçilerin sorunları ve çözüm önerileri belirtilecektir. Çalışmanın kapsamı, İstanbul’da Serbest Güreş kategorisinde güreşen kadınların yaşadıkları zorluklardır. Toplumda sosyal, ekonomik, psikolojik ve kültürel etkenlerin belirleyici olduğu cinsiyet ve roller meselesi, bazı kuramların oluşturulmasına sebep olmuştur. Türkiye’de de kadının konumu ve sorunlarının çözümüne dair bilimsel çalışmalar olmakla birlikte örneklendirme bakımından yetersiz kalmaktadır. Bu çalışma, toplumsal cinsiyet kuramları çerçevesinde değerlendirilmiştir. Makalede ele alınan kadın güreşçiler konusuyla Türkiye’de toplumsal cinsiyet çalışmalarına katkı sağlamak amaçlanmıştır.
Gender, femininity and masculinity are brought from birth and are immutable; gender roles are changeable in a society. Gender is a biological reality; gender roles are cultural phenomena. In traditional cultures, social roles are taught to individuals. In this context, Turkish society has a traditional culture and has made some roles and responsibilities to individuals. The subject of the study is to interpret wrestling sport in terms of transition from tradition to modernity according to gender-based perspectives. In this study, the interaction between the gender approach and the sports institution will be evaluated in general. In Turkish culture, women's interest in traditional sports, problems of women wrestlers and solution suggestions will be indicated. The scope of the study is the difficulties experienced by women wrestling in the Free Wrestling category in Istanbul. The question of gender and roles, in which social, economic, psychological and cultural factors are determinant in the society, has led to the creation of some theories. While in Turkey in terms of exemplifying scientific studies on the status of women and the solution of the problem are inadequate. This study was evaluated within the framework of gender theories. The female wrestlers are discussed in this article is intended to contribute to the topic of gender studies in Turkey.
