Tek Parti Dönemi Çocuk Dergilerinde ‘İdeal Türk Çocuğu’nun İnşası: Yavrutürk ve Cumhuriyet Çocuğu Dergileri Üzerine Bir İnceleme

Abstract:

İmparatorluktan ulus-devlete geçiş sürecinde Cumhuriyet’in kurucu seçkinleri, ulusal kolektif bir kimlik yaratma çabasına girişerek yeni rejime uygun modern bir yurttaşlar topluluğu inşa etmeye çalışmışlardır. Cumhuriyet değerlerini benimsemiş yeni yurttaşlar yetiştirmede eğitim araçlarının yanı sıra popüler süreli yayınlardan da faydalanılmıştır. Bu noktada çocuk dergileri, geleceğin yurttaşları olarak çocuklara ulaşmada ve Cumhuriyet değerlerini benimsetmede iktidara geniş olanaklar sunmuştur. Bu çalışmada, tek parti dönemi çocuk dergilerinde çocuğun temsil edilme biçimleri analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmanın amacı, söz konusu dönemde yayımlanan çocuk dergilerinde ‘ideal Türk çocuğunun’ nasıl inşa edildiğini ortaya koymak; bu inşa sürecinin, dönemin resmî yurttaşlık ideolojisi ve çocuk politikası ile ilişkisini açığa çıkarmaktır. Tarihsel betimleyici analiz yöntemi ile hazırlanan çalışmada tek parti döneminde yayımlanan popüler çocuk dergilerinden Yavrutürk (1936-1942) ve Cumhuriyet Çocuğu (1938-1939) incelenmiştir. Yavrutürk ve Cumhuriyet Çocuğu dergileri, Türkiye’de çocuk dergiciliğinin ilk ve en önemli temsilcilerinden biri olan Tahsin Demiray tarafından yayımlanan haftalık çocuk dergileridir. İncelenen dergilerde sunulan çocuk imgesinin, dönemin resmî yurttaşlık ideolojisi ve çocuk politikasına paralel bir biçimde inşa edildiği tespit edilmiştir. Her iki dergide de ‘ideal Türk çocuğu’, Cumhuriyet’in egemen değerleri etrafında Kemalist, inkılâpçı, modern, çalışkan, azimli, tutumlu, ahlaklı, iyi kalpli, yardımsever, bireye, topluma ve doğaya saygılı, milliyetçi, cesur ve savaşçı, vatansever bir yurttaş olarak resmedilmiştir.

In the process of the transition from empire to nation-state, the founding elites of the Republic tried to create a national collective identity and tried to build a modern community of the citizens suitable for the new regime. In addition to educational tools, popular periodicals were used in raising new citizens who adopted the Republican values. At this point, children's magazines provided wide opportunities to reach children as citizens of the future and to adopt Republic values. In this study, the ways in which children were represented in children’s magazines in the one-party period were analyzed. The aim of the study is to reveal how the 'ideal Turkish child' was built in children's magazines published in mentioned period; and to uncover the relationship of this building process with the official citizenship ideology and child policy of the period. In the study, prepared with historical descriptive analysis method, Yavrutürk (1936-1942) and Republic Child (1938-1939) were examined. Yavrutürk and Republic Children's magazines are weekly children's magazines published by Turkey Printing House in the ownership of Tahsin Demiray, who is one of the first and most important representatives of children's magazine publishing in Turkey. It was determined that the image of the child presented in the reviewed magazines was built in parallel with the official citizenship ideology and children's policy of the period. 'Ideal Turkish child' was represented as Kemalist, reformist, modern, hard-working, determined, ambitious, economic, moral, kind, helpful, respectful to individual, society and nature, nationalist, courageous and warrior, patriot citizen around the dominant values of the Republic in both magazines.
