Abstract:

The French 19. The Ottoman ports in the Black Sea, where the right to trade and to establish a consulate was obtained in the early century, revealed a new "Eldorado" for the French. These ports were unknown to the French. For this reason, in this period of spread, the important task of the French was to identify the opportunities these ports and ports will offer in all respects. For the first time in this process, in 1797 the ports that Beuchamp made the maps of the coast, were later one of the topics that the French ambassador Marshal Brune was interested in. For this, Brune commissioned Jouannin to conduct geographical examinations in the ports of the Black Sea, which are very little known by the French. Fourcade and Dupré, who were appointed to Sinop and Trabzon, had prepared reports on the structure and trade potential of these ports. Some of the announcement, published in the French archives, are also intended to make some findings about the image of the Southern Black Sea ports in the early 19th century, which began to meet international trade through these sources in the French archives.
