Abstract:

Is the World Social Forum a Moral Action? Abstract Within the scope of this study aiming to uncover whether the World Social Forum, the central activity of the global anticapitalist movement creating the last ring that we know today of the evolution of social movements, namely the activity with the highest power of formalizing this movement, is a moral action or not, firstly basic information is given about social movements, the global anticapitalist movement and the World Social Forum, and basic qualifications, generally accepted by various communities and ethicists at the global level, of the moral action which is a concept of ethics field are analyzed in a way to allow examination of social movements and activities in relation to these qualifications. Next, the World Social Forum is examined within the framework of the document review model regarding whether it carries the qualifications of moral action, in other words, a morally good action. Written sources that are texts, which are sufficient and reliable concerning information and can be accessed in printed document form or on the internet, have been used within the framework of the research. In this study, where data obtained from the sample created using criterion sampling method have been analyzed by descriptive analysis method, it has been concluded that the World Social Forum does not have any qualifications a moral action should carry, therefore it is not a moral action. The central activity of the global anti-capitalist movement, which forms the last circle of the evolution of social movements we know today, that is, the power to shape this movement, the main activity of the World Social Forum, which is aimed at revealing whether it is an ethical action, is first of all in the framework of this study, which includes the basic information on social movements, the global anti-capitalist movement and the World Social Forum, and the concept of the ethical field of the "ethical action", the basic qualities, social movements and activities, which are generally accepted by different communities and ethics at the global level, can be analysed in the form of the study of these qualities. The World Social Forum was subsequently examined in the framework of the document examination model, in terms of carrying the qualities of the moral action, in other words, of an action that is morally good. In the framework of the research, sufficient and reliable written sources, i.e. "text" were used in terms of information that was attempted to be accessed, which can be accessed in print form or on the Internet.  In this study, which analyses the data obtained through the sample created by the method of measurement sampling through the visual analysis method, the World Social Forum has concluded that a moral action has no nature to be carried out, and therefore it is not a moral action.
