Türkülerin, Batı müziği nota sistemi ile yoğun bir şekilde notaya alınmaya başlanması Cumhuriyetin ilk yıllarına kadar uzanır. Batı müziği nota yazım kurallarının ve Türk müziğinin/yöre müziğinin henüz anlaşılmaya çalışıldığı bu dönemde yapılan çalışmaların, Türk Müziğinin, Batı müziği nota sistemi ile notaya alınması konusunda bazı sorunları da beraberinde getirdiği muhakkaktır. Bu sorunlardan bugün dahi yeni yeni incelenmeye konulan, türküleri sahip oldukları usûllere göre notaya alma konusu, Türk Müziğinin, Türk Yöre Müziğinin ve âsârının anlaşılabilmesi için oldukça önemli bir konudur. Dolayısıyla bu konunun çözüme kavuşturulmasının, Türk Yöre Müziği adına birçok tartışmayı müspet bir biçimde sonuçlandıracağını düşünmek yanlış olmayacaktır. Bu çalışmada, bahsedilen düşüncelerin izdüşümünde, Türk yurdu Kerkük’ün müzikal anlayışınınkarakteristik özelliklerinden olan Curcuna usûlü ile bestelenmiş türkülerinin notaya alınması konusu irdelenecektir.
