This study aims to reveal to what extent the primary and secondary school administrators are affected by the stressors in their work environments, the level of their stress symptoms and how it effects their work performance, and to what extent they use the methods of coping with the stress. This is a quantitative research and a scanning model was used. The administrators working in the schools bound to Istanbul National Education Directorate, for the 2012-2013 academic year, comprise the population of the research. The study sample of the research consists of the administrators who are on duty in the primary and the secondary schools in Beyoğlu District of Istanbul Province. Descriptive statistical techniques were used in data analysis. Frequency, percentage, average and standard deviation of the responses were computed and an ANOVA test was executed to determine the differences in terms of various variables. The findings suggest that the organisational stressors are insufficient wages, inadequate feedback, impotence authority, noisy working environment and long working hours while the most common stress symptoms are found to be insomnia, tension and fatigue. Study findings reveal that stress is not highly influential on the performance of the administrators.
