SUMMARY As an artist and academic who produced artworks in many different concepts and contents within my artistic practice since 1999, the two consistent concepts of focus that laid the foundations of my work are history and memory. In this text, I examine these concepts of history and memory directly through the artworks I produced in various points in time. Divided into three sections, the text scrutinizes artworks that are specifically interconnected to relevant references and quotes. The sections are constituted as “History and Memory”, “Collective Memory – Personal Memory” and “The Threat Against Memory: Hegemony”; and together with the artworks produced between 1999-2015 that are included in these sections, they compose two different structures that complement and evocate each other. The texts expand the works and the works expand the texts within an integrative framework, and conjoin two separate types of information. The included references and sources are pieces of information that explain the content of the artworks and reveal their conceptual bases, rather than describing them. The artworks, similarly, are beyond a visualization of data for a social sciences document. Through using the potentials of artistic analysis, the works embody the information provided by social-scientific texts in the context of art.
