ABSTRACT: There is no consensus yet in the literature on the impact of human capital investments, largely realized through education and health expenditures, on economic growth. For this reason, the examination of expenditures to increase human capital stock is at the center of recent researches in the field of growth economics. In the light of this information, the main aim of this study is to examine the impact of public education expenditures shares on economic growth in Turkey. In accordance with the purpose of the study, a large data set covering the years 1961-2018 has been preferred, and the effect of education expenditures on long-term economic growth has been investigated by Engle and Granger Cointegration Analysis which is one of the time series analysis methods. According to the results of the cointegration analysis, the existence of a long-term relationship between the share of public education expenditures and economic growth has been determined.
