Abstract:

SUMMARY In the era of globalization and integration of states, international cooperation, which is a requirement for solving global and regional problems of mankind, is particularly relevant. One of such issues of international cooperation is the problem of regulating the flow of transboundary rivers as one of the main sources of water supply for boundary regions. In connection with the above-mentioned, this article discusses the problems of regulating the flow of the Ural River and its tributaries, which originate in the Orenburg region of the Russian Federation and mainly flow through the territory of North-West Kazakhstan. The presence of hydraulic facilities in the Ural riverbed has a significant impact on the water supply of the regions of Kazakhstan, in particular, the West Kazakhstan region. The relevance of this study is due to the fact that the water of the Ural River, as one of the main sources of water resources in the region, undergoes significant changes in the hydrological regime, hydrometric characteristics, water-erosion processes and the overall ecological state of geosystems.
