Abstract:

In this study determining the characteristic of embroidery species and their function dated for 20. century, which are founded in houses located at Karatay district, is aimed. Definitions of embroidery species and function are prepared by observation, interview, and area research methods. Embroideries which are found at houses in Karatay district mainly applied to household goods and garments. It is seen that Embroideries are home-based manufacturing products especially applied likely for decorating articles which were used on daily life and special days. But Today it is noticed that there is a decrease on numbers of Embroidery spices and these are protected by hiding either in chests or closets.
