Abstract:

The inhumane acts observed during World War II exerted global level effects. Following the war, in order to improve and protect human rights both the United Nations at international level and regional organizations at regional level endeavored to issue human rights documents and to form protection mechanisms. In regional protection of human rights by the regional organizations, the legislation and procedures issued by the European Council, the Inter-American Organization as well as the African Union have immense impact. In this context, the scope of the study is constituted by the InterAmerican Human Rights System which has always been a sample case. This study aims to evaluate the contribution of the Inter-American Human Rights System to the protection of human rights with special focus on the development and operation of this regional system
