Öğretmen Adaylarının 21.yy Yeterlik Algıları ile STEM Eğitimi Tutumları Arasındaki Kanonik İlişki

Bu çalışmanın amacı, okul öncesi öğretmen adaylarının 21. yy. becerileri yeterlik algıları ve STEM eğitimine yönelik tutumlarını cinsiyet ve sınıf düzeyi açısından ortaya koymak ve bu değişkenler arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. Çalışma grubunu 238 okul öncesi öğretmen adayının oluşturduğu araştırmada ilişkisel tarama deseni esas alınmıştır. Çalışmada veriler “21. yy. Becerileri Yeterlik Algıları Ölçeği” ve “STEM Eğitimi Tutum Ölçeği” ile toplanmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda katılımcıların 21. yy. yeterlik algıları ile STEM eğitimine yönelik tutumlarının genel olarak yüksek olduğu ve sınıf düzeyi ile cinsiyet açısından anlamlı olarak farklılaşmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Yapılan kanonik korelasyon analizi sonucunda da 21. yy. yeterlik algıları ile STEM’ e yönelik tutum alt boyutları arasında pozitif yönde anlamlı ilişkiler olduğu ve veri setlerinin paylaştıkları ortak varyansın %23 olduğu hesaplanmıştır.

The Canonical Relationship Between The Prospective Teachers’ Perceived Efficacy Beliefs Of 21st Century Skills and Their Attitudes Towards Stem Education

Abstract:

This study is aimed at identifying the prospective preschool teachers’ perceived efficacy beliefs of 21st century skills and their attitudes towards STEM education in terms of gender and grade level as well as examining the relationship between these variables. This study has a correlational survey design. The study group consists of 238 preschool teachers. The data were collected, using “21st Century Skills and Competence Scale” and “Attitudes towards STEM Education Scale”. The results of the study revealed that the participants’ perceived efficacy beliefs of 21st century skills and their attitudes towards STEM education were mostly positive and that they did not differ significantly in terms of grade levels and gender. The canonical correlation analysis indicated that there were significantly positive relationships between perceived efficacy beliefs of 21st century skills and the subscales of participants’ attitudes towards STEM. The common variance shared by the data sets was found to be 23 %.
