Abstract:

Ouml;zet Uuml;niversitemiz, 2012 yılı itibariyle, kuruluşunun 55. yıldouml;nuuml;muuml;nuuml; kutlamaktadır. Aradan geccedil;en bu suuml;re iccedil;inde, her youml;nuuml;yle Tuuml;rkiye'nin en buuml;yuuml;k uuml;niversitelerinden birisi olmayı başarmıştır. Artık buuml;nyesinde, ccedil;ağdaş buuml;tuuml;n bilimler temsil edilmekte ve buuml;yuuml;k gelişmeler de kayıt etmiş bulunmaktadırlar. Hiccedil; kuşku yok ki, bunlardan birisi de coğrafya ilmi olup, yetiştirdiği birccedil;ok akademik coğrafyacıyı başak uuml;niversitelerimize gouml;ndermiş olmakla birlikte, yine de buguuml;n, ouml;zguuml;n eserler uuml;retmiş ve uuml;retmekte olan, ouml;nemli bir akademik coğrafyacılar topluluğuna sahiptir. nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Coğrafya araştırmaları ve eğitimi, Atatuuml;rk Uuml;niversitesi'nin iki akademik biriminde suuml;rduuml;ruuml;lmektedir. Bunlar, Edebiyat Fakuuml;ltesi Coğrafya Bouml;luuml;muuml; ve Kacirc;zım Karabekir Eğitim Fakuuml;ltesi Coğrafya Ouml;ğretmenliği anabilim dalıdır. Ccedil;alışmamızda, bu birimlerdeki gelişmeler ve eğitim-ouml;ğretim uuml;zerinde durulmuştur. Hemen hatırlamak gerekir ki, Atatuuml;rk Uuml;niversitesi'nde buguuml;n gelişmiş bir coğrafya ilmi olması; 800 dolayında coğrafya ouml;ğrencisi okuması; 27 kadar akademik coğrafyacının gouml;rev yapması; 34 dolayında yetişmiş coğrafyacının değişik uuml;niversitelerimize nakletmesi ve 600'den ccedil;ok coğrafya eseri uuml;retilmiş olması... Bu parlak başarı tablosunun onuru, elbette ouml;ncelikle, Bouml;luuml;muuml;n kurucusu ve doktora hocam, Prof.Dr.Mehmet Tevfik TARKAN (1923-1984)'a aittir. O nedenle, her Atatuuml;rk Uuml;niversiteli coğrafyacı, O'na hep vefa borccedil;lu kalacaktır. Abstract nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Our university is celebrating its 55 th establishment anniversary by the year 2012. The university has succeeded into becoming one of the biggest universities in Turkey in all its parts since its establishment until today. All modern sciences have been represented in the university and many big developments have been made. No doubt about that, one of these significant developments is the discipline of geography; although many geography academicians were sent to young universities, there are many important and successful academicians in the university who have prepared and are still preparing original pieces. nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Geographical researches and education have been carried out in two academic units of Atatuuml;rk University. These are the Faculty of Literature, Department of Geography and Kacirc;zım Karabekir Faculty of Education, Department of Geography teaching. Developments and education in these units were analyzed in our study. nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; It is important to remind that the discipline of geography is rather developed in Atatuuml;rk University; there are approximately 800 students in geography department; 27 geography academic members have been working; 34 professional geographers have moved to different universities, and more than 600 geographic pieces have been prepared... Surely, honor of this brilliant success primarily belongs to the founder of the department and my doctorate teacher Prof.Dr.Mehmet Tevfik TARKAN (1923-1984). This is why each geographer of Atatuuml;rk University owes him the duty of loyalty.
