Bireylerin yeni teknolojileri kabulünü etkileyen pek çok dışsal faktör bulunmaktadır. Bu faktörlerden biri de kişilik özellikleridir. Teknoloji kabul davranışını ölçmeye yönelik tasarlanmış olan modeller arasında en çok kabul gören model Teknoloji Kabul Modeli’dir. Bu model, farklı bilgi teknolojileri açısından doğrudan ve dolaylı ilişkileri tespit etmek amacıyla sınanmıştır. Bu yeni teknolojilerden biri de akıllı telefonlar olmasına rağmen, bu teknolojinin kabulüne yönelik yeterli düzeyde çalışma bulunmamaktadır. Bu noktadan hareketle, bu araştırmanın amacı, kişilik özellikleri ile akıllı telefon teknolojisinin kabulüne yönelik davranışsal niyetler arasındaki ilişkide algılanan kullanım kolaylığı (AKK) ve algılanan kullanışlılık (AK) değişkenlerinin aracı etkisinin olup olmadığını belirlemektir. Araştırmanın bir diğer amacı ise, AK, AKK ve davranışsal niyetler arasında literatürde defalarca kanıtlanmış olan doğrudan ve dolaylı ilişkilerin bu araştırma özelinde sınanmasıdır. 251 genç tüketici üzerinde yapılan araştırmanın bulguları, kişilik özelliklerinden uyumluluk ve açıklık ile davranışsal niyetler arasındaki ilişkilerde AK ve AKK değişkenlerinin aracılık etkisinin olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. Bununla birlikte, duygusal denge ile davranışsal niyetler arasındaki ilişkide de AK’nın aracı etkisi ortaya konmuştur. Diğer bulgular, sonuç bölümünde değerlendirilmiştir.
