Bu araştırmanın amacı, Eğitim Fakültesi öğrencilerinin "üniversite tercihlerinde etkili olabilecek özellikleri" belirlemektir. Bu kapsamda, bu araştırma, üniversitelerde olması istenen başlıca özelliklerin ve üniversitelerin performanslarını değerlendirmede ele alınacak ölçütlerin tespit edilmesinde belirleyici olması açısından önem taşımaktadır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu, 2013-2014 Eğitim-Öğretim yılında Amasya Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi İlköğretim Bölümü Türkçe Öğretmenliği, Okul Öncesi Öğretmenliği, Sınıf Öğretmenliği ve Fen Bilgisi Öğretmenliği bölümlerinde öğrenim görmekte olan toplam 307 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın veri toplama aracı olarak "Üniversite Tercih Nedenleri Öz Değerlendirme Formu" hazırlanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde, Thurstone’un karşılaştırmalı yargı kanununa dayanan V. Hal ve III. Hal eşitlikleri ile ikili karşılaştırmalar yoluyla ölçekleme çalışmaları yapılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgular incelendiğinde, V. Hal ve III. Hal eşitliği ile yapılan ölçekleme çalışmaları sonucunda elde edilen ölçek değerlerine göre uyarıcı sıralamalarında küçük farklılıklar görülmüştür. Ancak, en çok ve en az tercih edilen özelliklere ait sıralamalar hemen hemen aynıdır. Eğitim Fakültesi öğrencileri tarafından "üniversite tercihlerinde etkili olabilecek özellikler"; en çok istenilen özellikten en az istenilen özelliğe doğru sıralandığında; en çok istenilen özelliğin "Kaliteli bir eğitime sahip olması" olduğu belirlenmiştir. Bu özelliği sırasıyla "Mezunlarının iş dünyasında tercih edilir olması", "Yurtdışı eğitim olanaklarının bulunması", "Ulaşım olanaklarının rahat olması" izlemektedir. Üniversite tercihinde etkili olabilecek en son özelliğin ise "Kütüphane olanaklarının yeterli olması" olduğu belirlenmiştir.
