Ouml;ZET Yusufeli ve ccedil;evresinin tarihinin ccedil;ok eskilere dayandığı gerek bir takım kaynaklarda gerekse elde edilen buluntularla ortaya ccedil;ıkmıştır. Hatta bazı kaynaklarda Yusufelirsquo;nin Kıpccedil;ak yurdu olduğu ifade edilmektedir. Ele geccedil;en birtakım buluntulara gouml;re bouml;lge, Tunccedil; Ccedil;ağından itibaren yerleşim gouml;rmuuml;ştuuml;r. İlccedil;enin Demirkouml;y (Nizgivan) kouml;yuuml;nde yol yapımı esnasında bakır baltalar bulunmuştur. Souml;z konusu buluntular Yusufelirsquo;nin tarih ouml;ncesi ccedil;ağlarını kısmen aydınlatır niteliktedir. Yakın bir gelecekte % 80rsquo;i Ccedil;oruh Nehri uuml;zerinde inşa edilecek barajlardan sonra Yusufeli ilccedil;e merkezi ve ilccedil;eye bağlı 18 kouml;y sular altında kalacaktır. Souml;z konusu barajlar, bouml;lgenin ekolojik dengesini, turizm potansiyelini ve zengin tarihi-arkeolojik verilerini yok edecektir. Bu ccedil;alışma da Yusufelirsquo;nin sular altında kalacak olan kuuml;ltuuml;r varlıkları ele alınmıştır. Anahtar Kelimeler: Yusufeli, Ccedil;oruh, Kale. nbsp; ABSTRACT The fact that the history of Yusufeli and its surroundings dates back to ancient times, is revealed by either some findings or from some written sources. Even, in some sources it is claimed that Yusufeli is the hometown of Kıpccedil;aks. According to some findings the area has been settled since the Bronze Age. During the road constructions in Demikouml;y (Nizgivan) village, some copper axes are found. Those findings relatively enlightens the history of Yusufeli. In near future, after the construction of dams, 80 % of which will build on the river Coruh, 18 village of the town will remain under the water. The dams will destroy the echological balance, tourism potential and rich historical-archaeological data of the area. By means of this study, we will be informed about the cultural values, which will be remained under the water of Yusufeli. Keywords: Yusufeli, Coruh, Fortress.
