Abstract:

Oriental dil ve kuuml;ltuuml;r bilimi anlamına gelen Orientalismus, 19. yuuml;zyılın başlarında Avrupa'da, ouml;zellikle Almanca konuşulan uuml;lkelerde ouml;nemli bir bilimsel araştırma sahası olmuştur. Bu sahada araştırma yapan isimlerden en ouml;nemlisi hiccedil; kuşkusuz Avusturyalı orientalist (şarkiyatccedil;ı) J.F.von Harnmer-Purgstall'dır. Harnmer, her youml;nuuml;yle batılı tarihccedil;ilerin ilgisini ccedil;eken Osmanlı İmparatorlugu'nun tarihi ve edebiyatı uuml;zerine araştırmalar yapmış ve bu konuda bugUn bile hala ccedil;ok buuml;yuuml;k ouml;neme sahip eserler vermiştir. Osmanlıca'yı ccedil;ok iyi bilen Hammer, "Geschichte der Osmanischen Diehtkunst" (Osmanlı Şiir Sanatı Tarihi) adlı eserinde ikibinden fazla şairin kısa hayat hikayelerini yazmış ve bazı şiirleri Almanca'ya ccedil;evirmiştir. Onun eserleri diger batılı tarihccedil;ileri etkilemiş ve Osmanlı Tarihi ve Edebiyatı hakkında ccedil;alışmalar yapmalanna neden olmuştur. nbsp; AB8TRACT The Orienta1ismus, which means the science of oriental language and culture, became a significant field of scientific research in (Europa, particularly) Gennan-speaking in the early i 9th century. Of the figures who have made researches in this field, the most important one is J.F.von Hammer-Purgstal1, an Austrian orienta1ist. Hammer made investigations into the history and Iiterature of the Ottoman Empire, which had dmwn, and has stili been drawing, the attention of the Westem historians. He alsa produced some works which are stili of great significance in this field. Having a good Ottoman Turkish, Hammer wrote much more short biographies of 2000 poets in his work, "Geschichte der Osmanischen Dichtkunst" (History of Ottoman Poetry), translating some poems into Gennan. His works made a great influence on the other Westem historians so much as to encourage them to study and research the Ottoman history and literature.
