Abstract:

Health-seeking behaviours of individuals directly affect the diagnosis, treatment, and healing process of diseases. The aim of this study is to determine the health-seeking behaviour tendencies of individuals. Also, it was also aimed to determine whether the health-seeking behaviours of individuals differ statistically based on demographic characteristics. The study was carried out in the Marmara Region between 21 September 2021 and 10 November 2021. Study data were collected from individuals residing in the Marmara Region and over the age of 18 or over, using the online survey method. It was determined according to the results of the study that individuals were most frequently engaged in professional health-seeking behaviour, followed by traditional and online health-seeking behaviours, respectively. It was determined that health-seeking behaviours did not differ statistically based on the gender, age, education level, and employment status of the participants. It was also determined that professional and traditional health-seeking behaviours did not differ statistically based on the marital status of the participants, but online health-seeking behaviours differ statistically. Within the framework of the study results, some suggestions were made to raise awareness regarding health-seeking behaviour.
