Abstract:

People of the Book, which is unknown when they came to the Arabian Peninsula, was settled here in tribes. Have been supported by some peoples of the region, People of the book, have reached the power to establish a state in course of time. In this period, which we consider as the background of İsrâîliyât, the Arabs; As a result of the commercial, political and social relations that they established with the People of the Book, the Israeli narrations began to pass into the Arab culture in this process of influence. The fact that the People of the Book possess a heavenly book, a religion, as well as science centers has enabled them to be more cultured than the Arabs. The Arabs have respected the People of the Book because of their knowledge and accepted the information from them easily. However, while the influences of Arabs from the People of the Book were limited in the era of ignorance, this interaction gained speed in the Islamic period due to different reasons. Because the relations of the Arabs with the People of the Book have entered another phase with the coming down to the Qur'an.The fact that the Quran was a heavenly book caused people to turn their eyes to other heavenly books. In addition, there were people who entered the Islamic world among the scholars of the People of the Book, and the information received from these scholars was considered correct.
