Abstract:

The sovereign state status achieved as a result of the dissolution of the Soviet Union brought together the responsibility to grant the united republics the rights of internal and external sovereignty, as well as to continue these rights. The multilateral cooperation, which requires the merger of its past management style with its opposite values, was one of the numerous strategies to ensure the fulfilment of its responsibility in the Middle Asian countries and the balance between the powers that want to add the region to its own field of influence. However, the strategy is not only limited to the needs of the regional countries, but also directly linked to the extensive geopolitical objectives of the external powers. Even though economic and internal factors are not ignored, political expectations that lead to multilateral cooperation in the region are the main subject of this study. The differences in the development opportunities of the countries throughout the state construction process and the discussions on common resources that create concerns about the development of these countries have distracted the regional states. As it comes to an increasing distance inside, the concern that Russia will take the region back into its own influence has directed the region countries to cooperate with the Western world and China, and the increase in the number of actors interested in the region, including Turkey, Iran, India and other axis countries, has also increasingly expanded the cooperation area in terms of Central Asia.
