Uluslararası Bilim ve Teknoloji Tarihi ve Felsefesi Birliği (IUHPST) bünyesinde yer alan Bilimsel Aletler Komisyonu (Scientific Instrument Commission, SIC) 1981 yılından beri her yıl başka bir ülkede toplanarak bilgi şölenleri (sempozyumlar) tertiplemektedir. Bilimsel Aletler bilgi şöleninin 35’incisi İstanbul Üniversitesi Bilim Tarihi Bölümü tarafından, Feza Günergun’un yönetiminde 26-30 Eylül 2016 tarihlerinde İstanbul’da tertiplenmiştir. O tarihlerde ülkemiz sıkıntılı günler geçirmesine rağmen bu toplantıya, yarısından fazlası Türkiye ve İran’dan olmak üzere, 80 bilim insanı katılmıştır. Toplantı süresince katılımcılar özellikle İstanbul Üniversitesi bünyesinde bulunan bilimsel alet, kitap ve objelerden oluşan Bilginin İzinde sergisini ziyaret etme fırsatını bulmuştur. Ayrıca tertiplenen gezilerle İstanbul’da bulunan bilimsel alet koleksiyonlarını gezebilmişlerdir.
The Scientific Instruments Commission (SIC), which is part of the International Association for Science and Technology History and Philosophy (IUHPST), has since 1981 been gathered in another country each year to organize information celebrations (symposiums). The 35th of the Scientific Instruments Information Festival was held in Istanbul on 26-30 September 2016 under the direction of Feza Günergun by the Faculty of Science History of the University of Istanbul. Despite our country’s difficult days in those dates, more than half of the scientists, including Turkey and Iran, took part in this meeting. During the meeting, participants found the opportunity to visit the exhibition in the Track of Information, which consists of scientific instruments, books and objects located in the University of Istanbul. They were also able to travel through the collections of scientific tools found in Istanbul.
