Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the general trends of research carried out in the field of Primary Science Education in Turkey.  In this context, a total of 103 studies, including 70 articles published in Turkish between 2014-2020 years, 33 Theses, were studied.  The studies included in the review are classified in terms of the type of publication, the year in which the study was carried out, the subject of the study, the type and number of sampling of the study, the subject area and unit of the study sciences, the research method used in the study, the data collection tools, the data analysis methods and keywords. As a data collection tool, the publication classification form developed by Qi·ltaş vd., (2012) has been used in accordance with the purposes of the research. When the results obtained in the study are examined, it is found that most of the studies are in the type of article. When the distribution of the studies is examined according to the years, 2019 is the most studied year with 41 studies. The study was carried out within the scope of the unit where the study was carried out in the assessment of the Unit of Substance and Change and the Unit of Simple Electric Circuits, while the research was found that the most work was carried out in the field of teaching as the subject. When the methods of research are studied, the most quality research methods are preferred, and the communication techniques are used as a tool for data collection. When examined in terms of the type and size of the sample, the main study was done in the primary school of the group 4. The most concentrated sample size is between 31 and 100 students.  The most commonly used method of analysis of data is the method of content data analysis. When the distribution of keywords is studied, it is often observed that keywords that include the field, the teaching stage or the sample group are used, while the teaching approaches "STEM" and the sensual variables "status" are the most commonly used keywords.
