Osmanlı hâkimiyeti önce Basra’ya daha sonra 1550’lerde Lahsa’ya ulaşması üzerine Necid’de de varlığını hissettirmiştir. Mithat Paşa 1871 yılında gerçekleştirilen askeri harekât neticesinde Hufuf, Katıf ve Katar kazalarından oluşan Necid mutasarrıflığını kurmuştur. Katar, Arap yarımadasının Kuzeydoğu sahilinde Basra Körfezi'nin güneybatısındaki Bahreyn Adası ile Bahrülberat körfezleri arasında kuzeye doğru uzanan bir yarımadanın üzerinde yer alır. Halkı genellikle denizcilik ve inci avı ile uğraşmaktaydı. Osmanlı kaynaklarında da adı ilk defa 1555 tarihinde geçmiştir. Katar'da klasik dönemdeki Osmanlı varlığı hakkında elimizde yeterli bilgi yoktur. Katar'daki mahalli idarecilerin Ahsa ile ilişkileri ve Ahsa beylerbeyliği sınırları dâhilinde emlakların bulunması, buranın Osmanlı idaresinde olduğunu göstermektedir.
The Ottoman rule first felt its existence in Necid when it reached Basra and then in 1550 at Lahsa. Mithat Pasha, as a result of the military movement in 1871, established the Necid mutasarrief consisting of the Hufuf, Katif and Qatar crashes. Qatar is located on the north-eastern coast of the Arab Peninsula, on the southwest of the Basra Gulf, on the Bahrain Island and on the north-eastern part of the Bahrülberat Gulf. The relations of the local administrators in Qatar with Ahsa and the presence of real estate within the borders of Ahsa Beylerbeyliği indicate that this place was under Ottoman rule.
