Purpose: The skin prick test (DPT) is mainly used in the diagnosis and tracking of diseases such as atopic dermatitis (AD), chronic urethritis (CU), allergic asthma (AA), and allergic rinitis (AR). The purpose of this study is to investigate the indications and positive rates of the DPT results performed in the Dermatology Clinic Allergy Unit (DKAU) by reverse examination. Method: The results of the DPT in 2014-2016 were studied using the DKAU archive. The DPT results are made by reading the DPT forms that are also archived for each patient. Results: in the DKAU between 2014-2016 years, 1916 patients were given DPT. 941 of these patients were diagnosed with AA, 133 with AR, and 842 with dermatological disease. The DPT positive rate with at least one and more allergic substances was identified in AA, AR and dermatological diseases, respectively, at 92.1, 71.4 and 50%. When dermatological diseases were studied, 69 patients with chronic urethritis (CU), 55 with atopic dermatitis (AD), the remaining 718 patients had different dermatological diseases, including main dermatitis, idiopathic generalized pruritus (IPP). The DPT positive rate was 55.1 per cent in CY, 52.7 per cent in AD and 48.6 per cent in other dermatological diseases. The result: According to the results of this study, the DPT positive rate is higher in both AR and AA patients, compared to CU and AD and other dermatological diseases. This may be due to the fewer role of type 1 hypersensitivity reactions in CU and AD etiopathogenesis and/or incorrect DPT indications in patients guided by different dermatological diagnoses.
