Reconstruction of periacetabular defects following pelvic tumor resection is a demanding procedure in orthopaedic surgical oncology. Conventional reconstruction procedures may have dissatisfying mechanical and functional results. More recently developed, Lumic acetabular implant (Implantcast, Buxtehude, Germany) has been used for acetabular reconstruction after type 2 pelvic resection. We aimed to present a 28-year-old female patient who underwent a reconstruction surgery with a Lumic acetabular implant following a type-II pelvic resection due to periacetabular Ewing’s sarcoma. Another important feature of the patient was the surgery is performed without trochanteric osteotomy. Therefore early postoperative period and in the second postoperative year, the patient was able to active hip abduction, with good fonctional score according to Musculoskeletal Tumor Society Rating Scale. As a conclutions, satisfactory functional and radiological results can be obtained with Lumic® acetabular implant. On the other hand we show that type 2 resection can be achived without trochanteric osteotomy. Keywords: Ewing sarcoma; periacetabular reconstruction; hip; Lumic.
